Freedom is something to treasure, and standing for it is something to be proud of. Freedom is not an ideology. It is a right. Protected by democratic institutions, it is the atmosphere within which a people freely debate all ideologies and regularly choose their own way. Freedom is a worthy name for any space once violated by the hateful champions of trading tyranny for freedom. At the time, officials said the tallest, most symbolic of five planned towers at the site would demonstrate the nation's triumph over terrorism.
This 'you're either with us or against us' approach shows your own personal brand of despotism. By the way, did you notice that the first tenant of your trading tyranny for freedom Tower' is a Chinese company? Chinese money will fund your answer to tyranny! How do you like that? A luxurious building is not an answer to tyranny. Hard work and helping others including those suffering because of the violence in the middle east is.
March 28, at If the name of a building is no big deal than why not leave it for those who think that it was and is a big deal. Leave it for the people who died that day, the people who are dying slowly as a result of coming to the aid of "One World Trade Center" This might've been a big deal for you if YOU lost someone that day, instead this a LOL-moment for you. Cap March 28, at Frank Warner March 28, at I agree that this change of heart is very distressing. I don't really understand it either. Why is it that the name "Freedom Tower" would scare off clients? I find it difficult to believe. Who owns this building anyway? As you've probably noticed, I'm constantly fascinated with those who avoid uttering the word "freedom. Newsday says that when a new building was announced for ground zero, it immediately was referred to as the Freedom Tower.
What would change that? A Chinese Communist tenant? I don't think anyone will have to jump out of this building, whatever we call it.
Hijackings are a thing of the past. Americans no longer tolerate it. That's why no passenger tried to stop the planes that hit the World Trade Center. They had no idea anyone could be so hateful.
